Japanese tea ceremony

Tampere Chadō Urasenke Tankokai

Japanese tea art, or chado (茶道), is a centuries-old art form developed around the preparation of green matcha tea. It is generally known somewhat misleadingly as a Japanese tea ceremony. In addition to a refreshing bowl of tea, tea art offers a unique opportunity to get to know traditional Japanese culture from a slightly different angle.

Members of the Finland’s Chado Urasenke Tankokai association’s Tampere’s study group holds demonstrations of the art form in Sorsapuisto, Sorsalampi tier area between 18:00-19:30. One demonstration takes about 20 minutes.

Bowl of matcha and sweet are available for a small fee (payment methods are cash or bank transfer). We are also happy to tell you more about the tea art.

Demonstrations are free and suitable for all ages. Warmly welcome. However, due tot he outdoor space, the demonstrations are subject to weather conditions. Rain or heavy wind can cause the demos to be cancelled.

Check out the association's website.
