Tampere Theatre Festival takes over the Theatre Capital of Finland between 5 – 11 of August

Tampere Theatre Festival – the largest and longest-running professional theatre festival in the Nordic Countries – takes a start of its 51st edition on 5th of August.
During the week the Theatre Capital of Finland, Tampere, gathers tens of thousands visitors to hundreds of events. Have a look at the five different programmes and take your pick!
The Main Programme of the festival consists of 19 productions under the theme of bravery. The 2019 Tampere Theatre Festival is filled with works that tear down the walls of fear and racism and boldly rewrite Western myths and legends.
Programme Tent celebrates its 20th Anniversary at the Central Square and hosts again a variety of small-scale theatre and poetry performances and concerts.
OFF Tampere is a fringe programme of the Festival which gathers artists and theatre groups from all over Finland, and also abroad. OFF Tampere takes a head start for the Festival already on 3rd of August, and offers 46 different performances or happenings around the town until Sunday, 11th of August.
The Great Nocturnal Happening takes place on Thursday, 8th of August. The lively carnival-like event presents a wide range of shows, exhibitions and other adventures. The total of over 200 events are spread across the city, the first ones beginning early in the morning and the festivities continue late into the night.
Tammerin Taikaa celebrates the 90th anniversary of the iconic riverside Hotel Tammer in the heart of the city offering music both at the terrace on Wednesday and over a delicious brunch on Saturday.
