7.8.2024

The Opening Ceremony of Tampere Theatre Festival was held yesterday at Laikunlava. Photos of the event can be found on Flickr.

During the opening ceremony, the Writers Guild of Finland awarded the Kiitos kotimaisesta näytelmästä ("Thanks for the Domestic Play") recognition to Teatteri Takomo. The recognition is given annually to a theater or entity that has supported domestic plays either through program planning or otherwise. The reasoning for this year's selection was as follows:

Teatteri Takomo is known for its bold and open-minded play selections, which enrich and diversify the Finnish theater scene. Teatteri Takomo has consistently showcased new domestic playwrights and provided them with a platform where their work can develop and reach a broader audience. Teatteri Takomo's program planning is exemplary, as it not only fulfills the traditional role of a theater as a cultural mediator but also actively shapes and renews it. Takomo deserves thanks for its commitment to advancing and renewing domestic drama, and its contribution is evident in the vitality of Finnish theater as a whole.

Congratulations!
