23.7.2024
The Great Nocturnal Happening is once again taking over the streets, squares, galleries, museums, parks and churches of Tampere! The Happening has been organized since 1990, and this year it will be celebrated on Thursday 8 August during the Tampere Theatre Festival week. Together with the Festival, almost 60 different organizers in Tampere, including associations, companies and church communities, will put together a total of 140 different events.
The diverse programme includes art and performances in all forms: circus, music, performing arts, poetry, dance, fire performances, open discussions, author visits, movie screenings inside and outdoors, and arts and crafts events for the whole family. Most of the events are free of charge.
At vegetarian restaurant Gopal, you can enjoy different kinds of activities from short film screenings to performance art and poetry, while traditional walking tours around Tampere will introduce you to topics such as the ‘manserock’ phenomena or the ghosts and spirits haunting the old factories and manors of the city. You can also enjoy thrilling circus performances at the Finlayson area, and join a dog walk with furry friends organized by PESU ry.
There are different options for concluding the exciting day full of events: go see an outdoor screening of the Aki Kaurismäki movie Fallen Leaves at Hiedanranta factory area, look for the stars at Kauppi observatory or see the show by fire performance group Flamma that combines light art, video projection and fire performance at Pyynikin Aikamatkat.
