Tampere Theatre Festival’s free events are here to entertain again

Tampere Theatre Festival’s OFF Tampere programme and Nocturnal Happening present diverse performances that the festival audience can enjoy free of charge. Here are some suggestions for the festival week:
Circus Ruska Festival. The skilled and high-quality circus performances of Circus Ruska Festival are coming to OFF Tampere with three shows that will be performed in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday. The shows deal with the longing for other humans and femininity and bring European street festival atmosphere to Tampere. The performances take place at Pakkahuoneenaukio (Rosa & Risto, MUIAT) and Bistro Vilja (Summer Night Cabaret).
Garden Letters. The stage performance based on Hannimari Heino and Kristiina Wallin’s book of the same name follows the annual cycle of the garden and the life cycle of a person. Garden Letters, which expresses the themes of growth and comfort, will be performed on Wednesday 3.8. at 15.00 and Thursday 4.8. at 17.00 at the Tahmela Villa.
Dance Theatre MD | Lauta – Board. The imaginative piece combines dance and theatre and discusses heavy topics with light, humorous movement. Lauta – Board will be performed on the day of the Nocturnal Happening at Hämeenpuisto at 12.00, at Kirjastonpuisto Park at 14.30, and at the Olympia Square of Ratina shopping centre at 17.00.
Työttömien Teatteri | Spiderman. Based on a monologue by Sampsa Salo, this autofictive hybrid performance is a new and original experience. The protagonist of the play is Sampsa Salo, a long-term unemployed part-time worker, whose jobs never last long, even though his CV and applications are in good order. Spiderman is part of the OFF Tampere programme and will be performed at Legioonateatteri on Wednesday 3.8. at 18.00.
Academic Drinking Songs. The singing groups of the Tampere University Singers and Teekkarikuoro perform on the night of the Nocturnal Happening both alone and together. You can be sure to hear entertaining drinking song classics at 19.00 at Pyynikin Brewhouse, at 20.30 at restaurant Telakka, and at 21.30 at restaurant Plevna.
SAMBA SHOW! Talented solos and spectacular choreographies dazzle the audience on the day of the Nocturnal Happening. A dash of carnival feeling and the hottest samba rhythms of the summer will be brought to the Olympia Square of Ratina shopping centre by samba school União da Roseira at 19.30.
TamJazz Collective. Come and enjoy jazz on the terrace of the Finlayson Palace in the form of classics as well as modern pieces. TamJazz Collective’s mini big band will delight the friends of jazz in a glamorous location on the evening of the Nocturnal Happening at 20.00.
Ultra Vixen Hooptroop – Cycles. This beautiful hoop dance performance brings together LED light hoops, silk fans, and skilful tricks. The artist duo Ultra Vixen Hooptroop from Tampere will perform their piece on the night of the Nocturnal Happening at the Väinö Linna Square in the Finlayson Area at 20.45 and 21.45.
Fire Park. Fire Park by the fire collective Flamma has become a tradition of the Nocturnal Happening. This time the versatile performance celebrates Flamma’s 20th year. In its works, the fire collective from Tampere combines and pushes the limits of circus and theatre. Fire Park will be performed at Mältinranta on the night of the Nocturnal Happening at 22.00.
