Great Nocturnal Happening – see stars on stage and in the sky
24.7.2018
The Great Nocturnal Happening takes over Tampere again on Thursday 9th August! Boasting 170 events at 66 locations, the cross-artistic culture event has something for everyone – including international audiences. Admission to most events is free.
During the carnivalistic event, music and dance will be found at every corner of the city. Numerous groups will perform at Klubi, such as Firefighter Choir Tulikukot, tap dance group Forge la Tap, Tampere Ukulele Orchestra and Danny’s Bollywood Dance Crew.
If you’re more of an outdoor person, our top picks include performances by New Creation Blues Band at Laukontori, the Wheelchair Dancers of Pirkanmaa at the Tullikamari Square and dance group Mihrimah’s oriental dance performance on Laikunlava Stage.
If you feel like dancing, you’re in for a treat – Caribbean and Middle American music will play at the Tullikamari Square till midnight. At Azúcar’s salsa event, you can dance salsa, try the conga dance or just admire the dance groups’ performances.
Churches are also strongly present in the Great Nocturnal Happening – for instance, you can attend a Finnish pop music mass at Alexander Church.
Adults can spend the beautiful summer night enjoying Tuula Amberla’s music on the outside terrace of restaurant Tillikka or watching short films in the inner court of Deli 1919 & Wine Bar. Alternatively, you can head to the Plevna Brewery Pub & Restaurant for a virtual brewery tour or beer tasting! In Näsinpuisto Park, Flamma will light up the night with their impressive fire show.
Prefer a little more peace and quiet? Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and go to the Rajaportti Sauna or to the Kauppi Observatory to see the stars in the night sky starting from 11 pm!
