Additions in the Main Programme and a new brunch concert

Our Main Programme includes now 20 fascinating productions that will once again bring us together to experience art and theatre. Brunch concerts are a yearly recurring event in our programme: this year we are partnering with the glamorous Tuulensuu Palace.
The Lovely Daughter Erika – Notes on a Name
The Lovely Daughter Erika is written by dramaturg Emil Santtu Uuttu. Emil Santtu Uuttu found a recount of a local story in the archives of the Finnish Literature Society SKS. The story, written down by Mauno Malmberg, included a quote that caught Uuttu’s attention: “She was pleased to be called Erika.”
The piece explores the themes of remembering and history politics in the context of trans history. Some of the topics touched upon in the work include ethical history research, ableism, and name.
The first performance of The Lovely Daughter Erika – Notes on a name was in the programmes of Teatteri Takomo and Kiasma Theatre in 2023. In the same year, Emil Santtu Uuttu was presented with the Archive Act of the Year (Vuoden arkistoteko) award for the work. The performance consists of audio play and video material. The show is performed in Finnish.

Tuulensuu Palace Brunch Concert: Samuli Edelmann
This year's brunch concert will be headlined by singer and actor Samuli Edelmann. Known as an exceptional interpreter, who isn’t afraid to go his own way, Edelmann has a wide repertoire from art records to pop music that has found its way to the hearts of Finnish people. The Finnish concert name Thalian Taikaa could be roughly translated to the Magic cast by Thaleia. The show is performed in Finnish, but English-speaking guests are welcomed with open arms hence the universality of music.
In this atmospheric concert you can hear his most beloved hits with new arrangements, and also material from the more recent albums Vaiheet and Vaiheet 2, accompanied with his trusted pianist Matti Paatelma.
During the concert, you will enjoy a generous brunch buffet with a wide selection of local specialities. The brunch is served between 12–14, concert starts at 12.30.
